Vacation to Giglio Island: when to find the best water temperature

Do you like to enjoy the sea on the surface or in the deep? In other words, you prefer pleasant  swims from unforgettable beaches or diving is your passion? In both cases, on Giglio Island there’s everything you may need. With a particular key: you have to know when to find the water temperature that is right for you.

January–March. This is the period of the year when there is the lower water temperature, between 14 and 15°C. Unless you’re really daring, the possibility of swimming in the sea is to be excluded. And for diving, in these months the currents could cause some problem for divers.

April–June. In April and in May, the average water temperature is between 16 and 19°C. If you’re lucky, in May you could swim for the first time of the season. This is a great time for diving enthusiasts because beaches and bays are not crowded. In June, the water temperature is 22°C.

July–September. These are the most crowded months and in these months the water temperature is the highest: on average, it’s between 24 to 26°C, ideal situation for a plunge into the sea after taking the sun on one of the most beautiful beaches of Giglio Island, and for snorkeling.

October–December. In October, the water temperature remains pleasant, 21°C on average. However, in November and in December, the temperature is between 18 and 16°C.
