Traditions, flavours, ancient legends, and devotion: Giglio Island is this, too. Especially during the four traditional events. Which will take place in Summer.
- San Lorenzo. It is the patron saint of Giglio Island. Every year, Giglio Porto pays homage to San Lorenzo with music in streets and squares, religious processions and fireworks. One of the most awaited moment is the boat race in the port of the town, on August 10th, during which the three districts of Giglio Porto (Chiesa, Moletto and Saraceno) will compete.
- San Rocco. From Giglio Porto to Giglio Campese, on the west coast. Where, on August 16th, is celebrated San Rocco. The day begins with a religious procession and a wreath of flowers in memory of the sailors of the island. In the evening, Campese beach (one of the most beautiful on the island) becomes the location of concerts and fireworks. The next day, August 17th, is the day of the Festival of the squid.
- San Mamiliano. The patron saint of Giglio Castello is the protagonist of many legends. On September 15th, Giglio Island people meet here for a four-days event: the funny race of donkeys, the quadrille, concerts, fireworks.
- Festa dell’uva e delle cantine aperte. Literally, “Festival of grape and open cellars”. For a whole weekend, in Giglio Castello you will taste the typical dishes of Giglio and the best wines of the island.
Four events that will allow to live an unforgettable Summer holiday on Giglio Island.
