The trails that cross the island of Giglio are several and are recommended for all hikers. You are one of these and you’d like to know which are the best footpaths to discover Giglio Island by foot. As already said, the trails are several. But these can be considered the five best footpaths of the island.
The starting point is Giglio Campese, one of the three localities on the island. The round-trip walk takes about one hour, between the blue sea and green vegetation. And it ends in front of Giglio Island sea stack.
It is one of the most beautiful bays of Giglio Island, so this hike could end with a nice plunge in the sea. The starting point is Giglio Campese and you will reach the cove in 30 minutes.
You will see one of the most beautiful beaches of Giglio Island. The starting point is Giglio Porto, where ferries dock. The round-trip path will take about three-quarters of an hour. The path is not particularly difficult. On the way, you will pass near the beach of Cannelle.
The starting point is Giglio Castello, in the heart of the island. The destination is punta di Capel Rosso, on the south coast, where there is the distinctive red and white striped lighthouse. From Giglio Castello, you will take about two and a half hours to get to punta di Capel Rosso. The path is 6 kilometers long.
The last of these five footpaths on Giglio Island. Giglio Castello is the starting point of sentiero dei minatori (“miners’ path”), sentiero dei cavatori (“quarrymen’s path”) and sentiero dei cercatori (“seekers’ path”).
